In a Nutshell : Come at this eatery and you fall in love with South Indian cuisine quiciker than you can say Idli. Classic taste, authentic menu mentions and unaltered quality are the cornerstones of Zambar. Country Style Chicken soup, Chettinad Chicken and Mutton Sukka are a must try on in the menu.
Zambar mandates a visit! It’s arguably the best South Indian restaurant in the vicinity. The manager Mr. Raj mahesh and especially the head chef MR. VETRI MURUGAN knows his stuff too well and is sensitive to his customers palette.

A fairly spacious area feel intimate- love the swing sitting, yet conductive to both cosy chats and mingling with strangers.
The food here is strong enough to hold its own over the plush interiors and addictive playlist.
Everything we order is expertly concocted and embellished with consideration. You’ll literally have to stretch your imagination to taste what they have to offer!
The head chef Mr. Vetri Murugan greeted and patiently guides us through the menu, explaining everything and so, we were likely to love the citrus flavours in the kafir lime rasam and also the country style chicken soup- both an assumption that turns out to be a bang on!
And with mutton sukka they bring out next, everything slips in to divine and we savour every bite, especially with the little side of cured beets!
It’s spectacular, crisp on the outside and precisely cooked within! Perfect dish to nurse Along with you choicest drinks. Aha !
Things get a little more experimental with the next dish, srilankan Kothu roti and while most of flaky parantha and spiced vegetables are mouth watering on their own, I duly feel the accompanying chettinad gravy is a bit too much.
But the hard feelings dissipate again and quickly with the waft of something delicious, a classic Kerala stew! It’s nurturing, wholesome and bursting with coastal flavours and accompanied with coconut appam, both beautifully presented and filling!
What arrived next, compelled us to lick every trace of- achamma’s lamb curry! This isn’t an easy dish to overcome from and turns out to be the best part of the meal. The lamb is soft with robust gravy adding another dimension.
Other notable mentions? Chettinad Chicken biryani, chip and dips, Nano vada Pao.
we manage to dispose of everything while carefully asking server(s) to pack the leftovers, which brings me to complain??
And not once, throughout the time of our service, I kept reminding for packing this and that.
But still the server managed to pack stuff by his choice I believe?
There’s no portion of mutton sukka (most loved dish),malabar parotha, appams, special fried chilli that was called for by the chef, and no raita with biriyani. We had specially asked to pack that special green chutney aswell that blew our mind with the poppadams.
Nope! Na na na na.
Service could improve!
But! We’ll be back, back a thousand times! We’ll be happy to return For that mutton sukka alone. We might even work up a routine, ya know 😀
